Disadvantaged Funding and Provision

What Is The Pupil Premium Grant ?

This is money provided by the government to support pupils who have been identified as being at a disadvantage with their education due to personal circumstances. Research shows that these groups of pupils can struggle to achieve in line with their peers and therefore additional government funding is to be used to enhance their education and to help them to achieve in line with their peers.

Which Children Are Eligible?

  • disadvantaged pupils who are in receipt of Free school meals on the date of the Autumn Census
  • Looked after children and previously looked after children
  • Pupils with parents in the armed forces.

At Bramley Grange this represents 11% which is below the national average.

How Do We Use The Money?

We ensure that all teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all learners and the funding is used to enhance this by providing additional resources such as books and maths equipment and also, where appropriate, intervention from a specialised teaching assistant. Money can also be used to support pupils to access the wider curriculum such as educational visits. Provision will be allocated according to the individual needs of the pupils. Limited funding and resources may mean that not all children will receive intervention at the same time.

How Will We Monitor The Effective Use Of The Money?

The progress towards narrowing the educational progress of learners will be tracked each term and reported to the Governing Body. This will inform an overall evaluation of the cost effectiveness in terms of the progress made by pupils receiving provision when compared with other forms of intervention. Impact of the different strategies and interventions will be recorded on the strategy plan.

Performance Of Those Eligible For Pupil Premium:

  • Please refer to Annual Strategy Plans.

What Is Early Years Pupil Premium?

Like Pupil Premium Early Years Premium is additional funding which can be used to improve your child’s learning experiences to help them make good progress and be ready for school. It is available for families in receipt of certain benefits to cover children over ages 3 and 4 years. The sum of money received for each child is £310 per year. As with Pupil Premium, it is to be used in whatever way school feels will best support the child’s progress and help them to be ready for school.
